Saskatchewan is the largest producer of lentils in the world. In Saskatchewan, lentil is best adapted to the Brown and Dark Brown soil zones, but can be grown successfully in the Thin Black soil zone in years without excessive moisture. Our Organic Green Lentils are growing in this well known soil zone area.

Green Lentils are an excellent source of B vitamins, iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc. They’re also a great source of plant-based protein and fiber.

  1. Health-promoting polyphenols, eating lentils is associated with an overall lower risk of heart disease, as it has positive effects on several risk factors.
  2. Overweight or obese people with type 2 diabetes found that eating a one-third cup (60grams) of lentil each day in 8 week, increased levels of ‘good’ HDL cholesterol and significantly reduced levels of ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. 
  3. A great source of folate, it's believed that they may help prevent excess homocysteine from accumulating in your body. High levels of homocysteine is another risk factor for heart disease.
